Vickie Grierson, PT, CSCS, SFMAC, FMSC
Registered Physiotherapist, Health Coach, Strength & Conditioning Coach, Pilates Instructor
Vickie Is the founder of Fit 4 Sport, & has been working with sport & fitness athletes of all ages, from novice to pro for 29 years. As an HTCP Level 2 Trainer, she has been the trainer for several Clarington Girls Hockey & Clarington Minor Lacrosse teams, & has designed training/injury reduction programs for Team Ontario Lacrosse.
Witnessing how powerful exercise & movement were in changing a client's pain & function, reducing injury risk & improving performance sparked Vickie to develop the concept of Fit 4 Sport and it's mission. She expanded upon the strong exercise physiology & rehabilitative exercise base gained through her physiotherapy degree, earning her National Strength & Conditioning Association Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist designation, and becoming a certified Pilates instructor. Recently, Vickie has completed her certificate as a Health & Wellness Lifestyle Coach through York University, with the goal of expanding the Fit 4 Sport mission to empowering clients with all elements of health!
Vickie takes special interest in promoting active living, & is especially passionate about resistance training!
She is currently a professor in the Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy Assistant Program at Canadore College in North Bay, and will be joining the Symetrics team in North Bay this spring!
A life-long learner, Vickie has completed extensive continuing education courses & certifications in physiotherapy (manual therapy, dry needling & soft tissue release to name a few), Functional Movement Systems, strength & conditioning, athlete training & Pilates.

Bernadette Murphy, DC, MSc
Doctor of Chiropractic
Bernadette A. Murphy is the Founding Professor of Kinesiology at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT). She did an undergraduate degree in Life Sciences at Queens where she was a track and cross country athlete. Her experiences with injuries and rehabilitation lead her to complete her four year Doctor of Chiropractic training at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC). She then went to New Zealand where she completed her Masters and PhD in Neurophysiology. She was a faculty member in Sport and Exercise Science for 10 years there where she established a Masters degree in Exercise Rehabilitation. She has 31 years of experience as a chiropractor in both New Zealand and Canada. In her research program at UOIT she investigates how altered sensory input from the spine due to injury and fatigue affects the way the brain processes other sensory inputs and how this affects the way the brain controls output to muscles. She wants to understand what makes pain transition from acute to chronic and how back and neck treatment can improve movement and coordination and loves working with patients!

Afshin Shams, PT
Registered Physiotherapist
Afshin’s treatment philosophy involves a comprehensive approach, treating beyond structures and looking at the system to identify sources of nociception (painful stimuli). Afshin’s practice focuses on the use of manual techniques and neurofunctional electro-acupuncture in addition to prescribed home exercises for the rehabilitation and prevention of sports injuries and pain with movement disorders.
Afshin received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from York University. He then went on to complete his Physiotherapy degree at the European School of Physiotherapy in Amsterdam, Netherlands with special interests in orthopaedic and sports rehabilitation.
Afshin has completed post-graduate courses in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University as well as the Advanced Integrated Musculoskeletal (AIM) program through the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
Natalie Solis, DC
Doctor of Chiropractic
Dr. Natalie graduated with an Honours degree in Life Sciences from McMaster University. She continued her education and earned a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. Dr. Natalie understands the impact pain and injury can have on one’s life and believes it should not stop anyone from reaching their goals. She is dedicated to finding the root cause of the problem and provides the best evidence-based care for her patients which includes a combination of manual therapy techniques, exercise, education, and acupuncture to get her patients back to feeling their best.

Nicolas T Antony, DC, MSc
Doctor of Chiropractic
Dr. Nicholas T. Antony is an evidence-based Chiropractor serving the community of Durham Region for over 9 years. He incorporates a multidisciplinary approach in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries; utilizing a variety of treatment techniques including: myofascial release, joint mobilizations, acupuncture, shockwave therapy, exercise prescription, kinesiotaping and Graston.
Dr. Antony is a professor for the Ontario Tech University Faculty of Health Sciences, lecturing on biomechanics and neuroscience courses. He is certified with the Complete Concussion Management program. He is a graduate of the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. He obtained a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Human Kinetics from the University of Guelph and also completed a master’s degree in Biomechanics and Ergonomics from York University. His research on workplace injuries was published in the Journal of Electromyography and Kinesiology and was presented at the 14th Biennial Conference for the Canadian Society of Biomechanics in 2006.
